Salary and Benefits

The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics strives to maintain Resident/Fellows stipend levels at the mean of state-owned Midwest hospitals. Rates are adjusted annually based on the Council of Teaching Hospitals survey. Stipends for 2007-2008 are:

  PG 1 (CA-B) $46,883
  PG 2 (CA-1) 48,639
  PG 3 (CA-2) 50,510
  PG 4 (CA-3) 52,413
  PG 5 (CA-4) 53,953

 

Comprehensive liability protection and long-term disability coverage are provided for all residents. In addition, Residents are eligible for a variety of health, life, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance plans, some at additional cost. The Department of Anesthesiology provides residents with a variety of basic and subspecialty anesthesiology texts along with an annual professional allowance. Annual dues for the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Medical Association, and Wisconsin Society of Anesthesiologists are covered, along with tuition for ACLS and PALS courses.
